Life Build Solutions has emerged as one of Britain’s fastest-growing companies, according to a top 100 league table published by the Sunday Times yesterday. Life Build Solutions came 14th in this years Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100, which ranks Britain’s private companies by sales growth over their latest three years of results. Nationally, it is the only main contractor to be listed in the top 100, and in the South-East results, excluding London, it came third overall. The company, which was set up at the start of 2005 by co-founders Ken Adams and Mike Wilde, recorded an annual sales growth of 139.65 per cent over the three subsequent years under review. The league table shows annual sales figures soaring from £1,090,000 at the end of 2005 to £15,002,000 by the end of 2008. The Sunday Times reports that a high percentage of repeat business helped boost Life Build Solutions chart-topping sales growth, and also reveals that the company recently launched a subsidiary to buy land and develop its own projects a move which aims to take advantage of the opportunities now arising in the property market. Significantly, a breakdown of the Sunday Times results by industry shows construction accounting for just three per cent, while building-related businesses took only five places in the top 100 against 17 the year before, reflecting the impact of the economic downturn. Life Build Solutions managing director, Ken Adams, commented: To be the only main contractor on the list is a considerable achievement in itself. To be ranked 14th nationwide against businesses from every background, ranging from aviation to retailing and from fashion to travel, is amazing. Operations director Mike Wilde said: We are most thankful to both our clients and our staff, who have made this possible.
In the face of tough trading conditions affecting the construction industry, Life Build Solutions expects turnover for 2009 to hit a new high – between £16 and £17m – and it has built up a forward order book of £9 million to take it into 2010.
