Kew House School – Summer Works, Phase 3

In New Business by lisa / June 29, 2015 / 0 Comments

Back for our third visit, this time to construct a new escape stair tower to the rear of the existing building together with the creation of additional teaching space.

With an extremely tight working area and a railway line adjacent to the site boundary this makes access and logistics a challenge.

The works include piled foundations, steel stairs with curtain walling to the majority of the elevations, suspended ceilings, partitions, M&E and general finishes.

An existing 1970’s concrete framed office building Hurst House is to be converted to provide 17 flats, including the construction of a lightweight metal framed extension at roof level providing 3 flats. Works also include the formation of a new entrance lobby, lift shaft, renewal of the windows and external doors, removal of vertical tiling and the replacement of the existing roof coverings.

There are 2 existing flats to be retained and a retail outlet at ground floor level, which will remain in occupation during the construction period.
