First we demolished existing classrooms and gymnasium and then constructed new teaching facilities of 22 classrooms, laboratories, library and a learning resource centre, covering approx. 3,500m2 gross internal area in total.
The new buildings were constructed in two blocks. Block A’s three storeys were linked by two internal general stairways; a spiral staircase from the first floor library to the second floor; and a passenger lift to all floors. A curved planar glazed wall overlooks the landscaped gardens and a glass floor was an added feature to the library floor.
Block B was linked to Block A as well as to the Main school building and the FSTC at the other end. Block B comprised of three storey and four story sections. Part of Block B had a basement containing the toilet facilities.
The existing FSTC building was completely refurbished during our summer works period when the school was unoccupied. The demolitions and the new build were largely carried out in a live school environment.
