New Windsor Swallows win LIFE Build Premiership


New Windsor Swallows were victorious in securing the LIFE Build Shield at the New Windsor football tournament on 29th June. 184 teams consisting of up to 1400 boys and girls entered the 3 day event held in Winsdor. The under 13’s team, managed by LIFE Build Contracts Manager, Colin Napier, were 2 – 0 down in the final until Callum Jones scored twice taking the game to a nail biting shoot out, which the Windsor team went on to win. Colin, who is also the club welfare officer, said ‘the team showed great spirit in coming back to level the game and then going on to win the penalty shoot out. The lads will remember this day for the rest of their lives’ The trophy was presented by LIFE Build Director, Ken Adams, whose Chiltern Athletic team were knocked out in the semi final.

The company was also represented by Oxford team, Quarry Rovers, whose under 9 team is managed by LIFE Build Director Mike Wilde. Voluntary work in youth football is a strong feature of the LIFE Build management team, with Pre Construction Manager, Paul Wright, running Hook United, under 9s in Hampshire. After the tournament Mike Wilde said ‘On training night’s we have up to 150 children, aged 5 to 15, having fun, getting exercise, gaining confidence, self belief, and forging strong friendships’. ‘Seeing the young players developing their skills and achieving more through teamwork is tremendously rewarding’.
