Shinfield Studios, Thames Valley Science Park

Delivered through a negotiated two-stage procurement process, this project was the culmination of six months’ work by the LIFE Build team.

We designed and constructed three film stages totalling 80,000 sq ft, built on piled foundations with steel-framed structures. Walkways positioned 15m above the studio slab level provide access for rigging and lighting.

Each stage is enclosed with acoustic wall and roof cladding, along with acoustic sliding vehicle and personnel doors — all engineered to deliver the sound insulation required for film production.
The sound stages sit directly adjacent to Junction 11 of the M4, making them highly accessible.

M&E services were installed throughout, providing heating and cooling to each stage, along with a dedicated extract system for clearing pyrotechnics safely and efficiently.
