Haberdashers’ Girls’ School was founded in 1875 alongside the Boys’ School. The school at Elstree was officially opened by HRH Princess Margaret on 1st October 1974. We have successfully undertaken three projects with this client and were awarded the construction of a new five storey block to continue the relationship.
The project involved the demolition of an existing three storey corner block, with adjacent plant room, together with link corridors to Blocks B and D. This was followed by the construction of a new five storey block including a contiguous piled basement with waterproof concrete that served as the plantroom for Blocks B, D and the new STEM Building. The upper floors provide new science laboratories, seminar rooms, toilets and a locker area, all of which are accessible via pre-cast concrete stairs and a lift. The external works were limited and we installed the base course tarmac ready for resin gravel to be installed on completion of the next phase of works.
