White Cube Centre, Bermondsey Street, London

The project entailed the conversion of a former 1970’s warehouse in South London into a prestigious 5440 m2 art gallery making it, at launch, the biggest commercial gallery in Europe.

The building was altered to include three principal exhibition spaces, substantial warehousing, private viewing rooms, an auditorium and a bookshop. In addition, at the centre of the building, a gallery of 81m2 entitled ‘9 x 9 x 9’ was constructed.

Working on the confined site to a tight time scale, the completed building was finished to the highest material and finishing standards.
