Utilising a traditional method of construction, the project included the design and construction of five three-bedroom houses and two two-bedroom bungalows.
To meet the client’s requirement for a more sustainable method of construction, all of the properties were designed and built to the Future Homes Standard. The key objectives of this standard are reducing carbon emissions, transitioning to low-carbon heating, improving fabric efficiency, and increasing energy performance.
To achieve this, the scheme incorporated modern technologies including photovoltaic panels (PV), air source heat pumps (ASHP), mechanical ventilation heat recovery (MVHR), and infra-red heating panels, along with a liquid-applied air tightness membrane to achieve a maximum designed air tightness of 1.0m³/hr/m².
