110 High Street, Berkhamsted, Herts

This project was a design and construct contract including the demolition of a shop, lock up garages, Sports Hall containing 6 squash courts and viewing galleries.

The new development comprised two blocks of flats. The front block contained three, two-bedroom flats and the rear block comprised a two-storey section and a three-storey section containing seven, two bedroom and three, three-bedroom flats.

An archaeological survey was carried out following the demolitions. During the archaeological survey an old basement was located along with other minor artifacts. Both blocks were constructed using piled foundations and ground beams which carry the substructure brick and blockwork. Electric vehicle entrance gates and pedestrian gates were also provided at the site entrances and these are linked back to the video entrance system to each flat.
